Curriculum Vitae of Speakers
Dr. Kazuo Miyashita
Dr. Kazuo Miyashita is a Professor in Department of Bio-resources Chemistry, Faculty of Fisheries Sciences, Hokkaido University, Japan. He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) and M.S. in Agriculture Science at Tohoku University, Japan. He obtained his Ph.D from Agricultural Science, Tohoku University with Dissertation entitle “Study on the Dimers Formed during the First Stage of Auto-oxidation of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids” in 1985. He has worked in the field of lipid oxidation for more than 30 years. In recent years he also focused on the lipid soluble nutrients such as fucoxanthin and astaxanthin which have great impact on human health. Major research interest is lipid oxidation. Particular attention has been paid to oxidative stability of fish oils and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in biological systems. A recent focus in this area has been the effective prevention of fish oil oxidation. Efforts have been also directed at the study on the lipid soluble nutrients such as fucoxanthin, a kind of marine carotenoid, which have great impact on human health. The achievement has been published more than 200 pure reviewed papers (including 3 Japanese papers), 3 book editions (including 1 Japanese book), 50 book chapters (including 11 Japanese book chapters), 60 reviews (including 30 Japanese reviews), and 25 patents. Dr. Miyashita have got several awards such as: International Society for Nutraceutical and Functional Foods (ISNFF) Award in 2011, Technology Innovation Award from the Japanese Society for Marine Biotechnology in 2012, Fellow of the American Chemical Society (Agricultural & Food Chemistry Division) in 2015, and Kaufmann Memorial Award in 2018.
Patrick A. Kalona
Patrick A. Kalona is a Chairperson of Asosiasi Pengusaha Suplemen Kesehatan Indonesia (APSKI) and Director of Phytochemindo Reksa, Bogor, Indonesia. He graduated Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance from London School of Economics and Political Science (2003) and Master degree in Management and Accounting at Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (2010). He is also a Vice Chairman of Alliance of Asean Health Supplement Association (AAHSA). As a Director he works closely with pharmaceutical, cosmetics, beverages and health supplement industries in creating product solutions for the needs of clients and overseeing the operations of different divisions within the company from production, research and development, finance, HRD and sales.
Takuya Sugahara
Takuya Sugahara was born on Japan/12 February, 1966. He started his undergraduate education at Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu University. Then continued at Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyushu University (Received PhD degree in Agriculture). During 1994-2006 he was Assistant Professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University and Assistant Professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University. In 2002 he was Research associate at University of Texas Health Center, did research on cloning and kinetic analysis of zebrafish sulfo-transferease for detoxification of environmental chemicals. During 2006-2012 he was Associate Professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University. From 2013 until now he is Professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University and Director of Food and Health Sciences Research Center. Since 2016 he is Special Aide to the President, Ehime University. His Research experience are Food science, Functional molecule science, Animal cell technology. He was ppublished 140 international academic papers including international joint research with Indonesian universities. He was rreceived Agricultural Chemistry Encouragement Prize from Japanese Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.
Asst. Prof. Santad Wichienchot, PhD (Thailand)
Assistant Professor, Director of Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Nutraceutical and Functional Food (IGS-NFF) and head of post-graduate curriculum in Functional Food and Nutrition at the Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. He is a member in Functional Food Cluster under Research University Network (RUN), Thailand. His research focuses on prebiotics, probiotics, gut health and functional foods. He is research program administrator, principal investigator and co-investigator of 20 completed research projects in last 8 years. He holds 4 patents and research collaboration with 4 companies. He has published 30 articles in last 5 years in peer-reviewed and internationally referred Food Science and Life Science Journals. He published 3 book chapters entitled “Prebiotic oligosaccharides: origins and production, health benefits and
commercial applications” in Nova Science Publishers, Inc., New York, and most recent book chapters entitled “Prebiotics and dietary fibers from food processing by-products” and “Sustainability of nutraceuticals and functional foods” had been published in John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in 2017. He is invited speaker and participate in international conferences. He is currently serving as reviewer in several International Journals in Food and Health Science. Dr.Santad Wichienchot received his PhD in Biotechnology from the Prince of Songkla University, Thailand and he had experience in research work on prebiotics and gut microbiota at University of Reading, UK during PhD and postdoctoral studies.
Prof. Dr. Rindit Pambayun
Prof. Dr. Rindit Pambayun was born on December 04, 1956; Cilacap, Central Java. He works as Professor (of Food Science) at the Dept. of Agricultural Technology and the Graduate School, Sriwijaya University. He achieved Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree (M.P.) in Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Post-graduate School, Gadjah Mada University. His research experiences are all about food science and technology (Including Food Fermentation and Microbiology). His research papers has published in reputable journal. Since 2014 until now he is The President of Indonesian Association of Food Technologists (PATPI). He is also The President of Federation Institute of Food Science and Technology ASEAN (FIFSTA). Prof. Dr. Rindit Pambayun have got several awards such as Anugerah Adikarya Pangan Nusantara (APN) Bidang Penelitian, Minister of Agriculture and The President of Indonesia Republic, 2012 and Best Inventor For Food Technology, South Sumatera Governor, 2015
